How this is calculated
Gratuity = half a month's last-drawn salary × completed years of service. You only qualify once you've completed at least 5 years of continuous service — resigning or being terminated before that generally means no gratuity is payable under the Act.

The exact figure your employer calculates may differ slightly depending on how "salary" is defined in your case (basic pay vs. consolidated pay), how partial years are treated, and any company-specific policy that's more generous than the statutory minimum.
